Rich Fields began his meteorology career studying at Mississippi State University in 2000. After an internship at tropical weather hot-spot WFLA in Tampa, FL, Rich went on to do mornings at KPSP in Palm Springs, CA. In a short time Rich was promoted to Chief Meteorologist at the CBS affiliate and was moved to the coveted night-side shows (5, 6 & 11pm). Rich then moved on to become one of the Staff Meteorologists at the CBS O&O duopoly KCBS-KCAL in Los Angeles, CA where he worked for 6 years. During the last 3 years at CBS-LA, Rich was charged with holding down weather duties for the prime 8, 9 & 10pm shows on KCAL-9. Those "weather-heavy" newscasts (4 hits per hour) garnered the station a #1 ranking for three years in a row... beating other network prime-time programming.
